Make your voice heard – act before 28 July 2025
Despite clear and growing need, Lee-on-the-Solent remains served by only one pharmacy. A previous application for a second chemist was rejected – largely due to objections from pharmacies outside Lee, and because the Hampshire Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) wrongly included Lee as part of wider Gosport.
The PNA (2022–2025) concluded that Hampshire is “well-served” by pharmacies. But its metrics—such as “distance within five miles of a pharmacy”—fail to reflect the lived reality for many elderly, disabled, or car-less residents of Lee. The PNA did not consider Lee’s unique needs as a growing coastal community with a significant elderly population.

What’s different this time?

A new application has been submitted for a second pharmacy at 137 High Street (former Wine Bank), offering clear and meaningful benefits:
Extended opening hours:
– 08:30–19:30 Monday–Saturday, and 10:00–16:00 Sunday — no lunch closure.
– Two private consultation rooms for patient care.
– Full “Pharmacy First” services, directly supporting NHS goals by easing pressure on local GPs.
– Free delivery of prescriptions

This is not just a second pharmacy — it is a modern, accessible, community health
facility.
