April 2023 Planning Report

Lee-on-the-Solent

142 High Street, the Bookshop. 23/00125/Full. This proposal seeks to increase the floor area of the shop and replace the existing single storey part of the building to the rear with a new single storey extension. The new addition will provide for more adequate staff facilities including internal access to a WC, as opposed to the current external facility for staff. The extension will be finished in brickwork with a new flat roof, roof lanterns, uPVC windows and doors. The site layout retains the existing detached single garage to the rear with an area for bin and recycling storage for collection from the rear access road.  There are also improvements to the living quarters to provide a porch entrance at ground floor level and together with some internal alterations to the first-floor layout.

The Wykeham Hall development. It is understood that all permissions have been finalised, the transfer of ownership between Home’s England and the developer has most likely caused the delay.

Daedalus Waterfront we have submitted the LRA’s objections and comments to the Outline Plans for the site as advised in the March report.  At this stage there is not much ‘objection’ in our response but unless you include the word objection the Planning Officers are not obliged to refer to the criticised aspects when briefing the Regulatory Board. There is no objection to the ‘Full’ part of the Planning Application for the Cook House Square and adjoining area. The LRA planning team remains in regular contact with the developers and will expect further dialogue and encourage further public consultation as more detailed plans of the Outline Site on the Waterfront are revealed.  The next significant step in the Waterfront Development will the submission of the plans to GBC’s Regulatory Board.
